Add Yarn — photos, Smart Scan, and save.
  1. 1 Tap the camera tile to add photos (camera or gallery). Up to 4. Trash icons remove a photo.
  2. 2 Smart Scan stays disabled until you add a photo. After that it needs credits and internet.
  3. 3 Tap Add Yarn (disk) to save. The same button reads as save when you are editing.
  4. 4 Tap back if you need to leave. Unsaved changes ask you to discard or stay.

Edit

Tap a yarn on the stash to open Edit Yarn, change fields, then tap the save button.

Possible duplicate

If a new yarn looks like one you already have, choose Cancel, add skeins to the match, or save as new.

Delete

On Edit Yarn, use delete in the app bar. Or long-press on the stash list and use Delete (see Selection).

Another colorway

In Basic Info, tap Add Another Colorway when you have the same yarn in a different color. Yarn Stasher copies the rest of the entry (brand, name, weight, fibers, and so on). Photos, colorway, and amount start empty so you can fill those in for the new color.

5 Photos & Smart Scan

Smart Scan is how Yarn Stasher reads yarn-label photos and fills in the form. You can attach up to 4 photos; one scan still uses one credit, even if several photos are attached. The more label data that is visible (brand, colorway, weight, fiber, yardage), the better the fill. Keep labels in frame, well lit, and in focus.

  2. 2
After a scan — review the filled fields, then save.
  1. 1 On Add Yarn, add up to 4 photos, then tap Smart Scan. That uses one credit (not one per photo) and needs internet. The app fills brand, name, colorway, yarn weight, fibers, and yardage. Open View analysis details if you want to see how it read the photos.
  2. 2 Always check the fields — scans can misread a label. Fix anything wrong, then tap Save Changes (or Add Yarn on a new entry).

6 Yarn fields

Each yarn has Basic Info, measurements, fibers, groups, and extra notes. Some Basic Info fields lock when the yarn is linked to the Ravelry database.

  2. 2

  1. 1 Brand, name, colorway, yarn weight, and closest color. Add Another Colorway copies this yarn except photos, colorway, and amount (see Add yarn).
  2. 2 Skein count, length per skein, and weight per skein. Totals update as you type. Units follow Settings (meters/yards, grams/ounces).

Measurements & calculator

Skein count, length per skein, and weight per skein (meters/yards, grams/ounces). Totals update as you type.

  1. 1 Subtract — enter skeins (or length/weight) you used.
  2. 2 Add — enter skeins you bought.
  3. 3 Remaining — enter how much yarn is left; Yarn Stasher estimates the new skein count.

Open it from the yarn form: scroll to Measurements and tap Skein Count Calculator.

Fibers, groups, extra

  • Fibers — name + percentage rows; stash names autocomplete
  • Groups — name a project, bin, or season; groups also appear as filter chips
  • Extra — dye lot, needle size, gauge, notes, hand spun

Per-yarn Ravelry catalog linking is on the yarn form. See Ravelry yarn database.

8 Smart Scan credits

  1. 1
  2. 2
Buy Credits — 10, 50, 200, and 500 scan packs.
  1. 1 Open Buy, then tap a pack. Guests may be asked to sign in first.
  2. 2 Use Restore Purchases after a reinstall or device switch. Buying needs internet.

One Smart Scan uses one credit, even if you attached up to 4 photos. Credits are not used when you add photos or save a yarn by hand.

Bonus credits

  • New device: Yarn Stasher automatically adds 3 Smart Scan credits once per device, whether you start as a guest or sign in. Reopening the app does not grant them again.
  • Email verification: An email/password account can claim 10 credits once after verifying its email. In Settings, complete email verification and tap the check/claim action.
  • Guest transfer: If you later sign in, the transfer prompt can move any remaining guest credits on that device into your account.

9 Sync & backup

Yarn always stays on this device. Where else it is copied depends on how you signed in:

  • Ravelry linked (guest or Yarn Stasher account) — stash syncs only with Ravelry. Yarn Stasher cloud is not used.
  • Signed in, no Ravelry — stash backs up to Yarn Stasher’s cloud.
  • Guest, no Ravelry — local only; nothing is backed up off the device.

Tap the cloud icon on stash, pull down to refresh, or open Settings and tap Sync Stash Now.

10 Ravelry

  1. 1 Tap Re-auth if Yarn Stasher needs a fresh Ravelry login.
  2. 2 Tap Ravelry to open your Ravelry profile in the browser.
  3. 3 Tap Unlink Ravelry Account to disconnect. To link the first time, tap the Ravelry card, finish browser login, and return to the app.
  4. 4 Theme sits below Ravelry — dark toggle, or System / Light / Dark.

If the Ravelry token expires, the app asks you to sign in again. Matching a yarn to Ravelry’s catalog is separate — see Ravelry yarn database.

11 Ravelry yarn database

This is not the same as linking your Ravelry account. Account linking syncs your stash. Database linking matches one yarn to an official Ravelry yarn page so Ravelry treats it as that product and can fill missing details.

Add Yarn form with Link to Ravelry Database card
  1. 1
On the yarn form — search Ravelry’s catalog and link this entry.
  1. 1 Tap Link to Database Yarn (your Ravelry account must already be linked). Yarn Stasher searches Ravelry for yarns with similar brand, name, weight, and other fields. Pick a match to register it in Ravelry’s database and fill any missing catalog info. Brand, name, yarn weight, and fibers then lock because they come from Ravelry. Skip to keep a personal yarn with your own details.

The same search can appear during stash sync for yarns that are not matched yet. On a linked yarn you can View on Ravelry or Convert to Personal Yarn to unlock those fields again.

12 Settings

Open , then tap Settings. Cloud Sync, Ravelry, and Theme are at the top (see Ravelry). Scroll for units and help.

13 Account

  1. 1
Account Settings — password, Google, and Facebook.

Tap Sign Out in the menu to return to Sign In.

To delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete account. Re-authenticate, then confirm. This cannot be undone. See Account Deletion.

14 Offline

  • An offline banner appears on stash, sign-in, settings, buy credits, and account screens.
  • You can still browse and edit the local stash.
  • Sync, Smart Scan, purchases, and most account changes need a connection.

15 Troubleshooting
